Life with Hu

I have always loved dark chocolate. I was the strange kid, thrilled to grab the “Hershey’s Dark” mini’s that were typically left behind in the candy bowl. At this point in my life, I would have no interest in those, or any standard candy bar, given my higher taste standards and commitment to avoid refined sugar and to seek organic.

Make no mistake, I’m a total chocolate snob who has done plenty of hands-on research through the years (you’re welcome), going deep into single origin, single harvest bean-to-bar varieties way before most people had ever heard of such things. If I’m going to enjoy chocolate, it needs to be really good chocolate.

Enter Hu Chocolate, which I discovered about a year ago. Fortunately the bars are now readily available at Sprouts and at Central Market (in Texas). These geniuses have gone next level by utilizing low-glycemic coconut palm sugar (vs. even organic cane sugar) and their products are paleo and vegan. No gluten, no palm oil, no sunflower lecithin, no shiny glaze, no soy lecithin … none of it. Just super delicious chocolate, including the new “Gems” for baking/snacking (so far I’m stuck on snacking but fully intend to use for baking).

I have an actual subscription to these products. Once a month I receive a shipment and allocate for a bit of super-satisfying joy each and every day. They’re so clean, I even got the sign-off for a little each evening during @AliMillerRD’s 10-Day Real Food Detox. And that’s saying something. 🙂
